Dewyn (the Ox)

Born the 20th of Kelen, 699 T.R. in Kiban, likely on the wrong side of the blanket, Dewyn was dropped of at Kiban's Brothel as a newborn. Madame Erila of Ponata and her girls found him adorable as a newborn. Torn between raising the child in a brothel and handing him over to her estranged sister Lira, Erila and her girls took him in and raised him as their own.

As a child, Dewyn was always getting into trouble. Often with his friend Galvin of Scintle, the Clothier's son. The two were tight as thieves; at times they were thieves. encouraged by the sort of near-do-wells that frequent brothels, Dewyn often financed he and Galvin's "adventures" as a pick-pocket. By thirteen he was becoming increasingly more daring, with each attempt he came closer to being caught. A pickpocket attempt in the fall of 712 T.R. nearly sealed his fate. He fled and leaving his best friend Galvin staring at his would-be mark. The next day Galvin was not to be found; and Galvin's father Adda gave Dewyn a viscious toungue-lashing, saying only that "Galvin is gone, he's never coming back, and it's your fault. Stay away from my family..."

At fourteen, Erila took a lover by the name of Welden of Biccosa. Welden took command of day-to-day opperations of the brothel and saw to it that Dewyn as well as a few other local boys contributed to his purse through their efforts. Dewyn and Welden did not like each other. They tolerated one another's presence in deference to Erila.

At fifteen he was caught by Umwin of Lynä a town watchmen with a penchant for the brothel and a sence of mercy. Umwin returned Dewyn's victims property and saw to it that the lad was enlisted in the local militia...to keep him out of trouble.

Under Umwin's training Dewyn quickly grew into a competent warrior. At sixteen, Aelia, one of Welden's girls took a liking to Dewyn and decided to make a man of him. When Welden found out he was furious. He nearly killed the boy with his dagger, cutting a long gash from his left eye all the way to his chin. Dewyn was the stronger of the two and after Welden's initial attack was able to push the weaker man off of him and escape.

Umwin took him in for a short time while his wounds healed. Dewyn refused to name his attacker. When Umwin was ordered on a mission to protect Earl Dariune's vassal while travelling on a diplomatic mission to Earl Caldeth, he enlisted Dewyn in his company. Arriving at Minarsis, Umwin's recommendation was enough to get Dewyn a position as an auxillary to the Town Watch.

Dewyn had difficulty fitting in at Minarsis until Pinard of Ikebard, a boisterous bully, made the mistake of picking a fight. Dewyn dropped him in a few punches. After that he quickly rose through the ranks and now holds the rank of Melberin commanding a full decad of Light Foot of the Minarsis Castle Guard.

Players Invited

Well it looks like we have a quorum of players so let's get started. I've added each of the interested players as posters to this blog so that we can use it as a means of communication between game sessions, for chronicle, and other purposes as needed.

First order of business is to get started with character creation. We'll be using HarnMaster III with HarnMaster Magic and HarnMaster Religion. Feel free to use the point buy system to create stats. I've got one extra hard copy for use during play and can share some materials electronically if needed.

I'd like to set up a time to do a pregame with each of you. I'd prefer to do this face to face and can schedule it more or less at your convenience. Let me know via email what works for you.

Calsten's Legacy

After the fall of Lothrim the Foulspawner’s empire, King Tarthin of Azadmere bestowed a great gift on Calsten of Tane; a broadsword of great power andenchantment. Calsten was a moral and pious follower of The Lady of Paladins. Aided by the power of the sword he was able to unite Tanor with the petty kingdoms of Merila, Panus and Tyannild in order to found the Kingdom of Serelind in 142. Calsten’s son, Medrik I, expanded his father’s domain into much of the Kald River valley and founded the kingdom of Kaldor.

Late in 674 the sword was stolen from King Torastra’streasury. The thieves smuggled the priceless weapon to Burzyn and news soon reached Tashal that it had been sold, in open market, to a Chybisan nobleman. Torastra mustered an army in the spring of 675 and crossed the Ulmerien on both sides of Burzyn. After athree year siege, Balesir surrendered and went into exile. The stolen sword has never been recovered.

Miginanth, Kaldors aging King has no clear heir. The king’s clan and his illegitimate sons engage the Tenants in Chief in intrigue, diplomacy, and swordrattling as they prepare for the impending succession crisis.
